What to Look For In a Good HVAC Service Company

Before you hire an HVAC service company, you may want to do some investigation and comparison when choosing which company to do HVAC work for you. There are several things to take into consideration when making your decision.

Things to look for in a reliable, reputable company should include: Professionalism, quality customer service, competitive pricing, quality equipment, materials, equipment and/or service warranties and guarantees, and qualified, responsible, certified employees, staff and service technicians. Check with the BBB and for references, affiliations and customer reviews.

Regardless if it’s a small or a large job, the company’s first priority should be to provide the best workmanship possible. All too often, independent contractors or HVAC service companies with poor reputations will do the required service but leave extraneous debris, dust and dirt in your home and then hand you a large bill. They also may not freely give out any helpful maintenance advice or tips. It’s so worth the extra time and investment to find a company that values its customers and provides a quality service.

Companies that are highly rated will go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that their customers are satisfied and continue to return for future service. Providing a positive customer experience, with value-added services such as; discounts when applicable, free system evaluations and honest cost estimations should be expected.

Don't be afraid to ask for recommendations for additional upgrades or products if you have any problems concerning the climate of your home or the high cost of energy bills. They should also be knowledgeable and readily answer your questions, and if they don't know the answer off the top of their heads, get back to you with an answer in a timely manner.

You can feel comfortable in your decision to hire us. Orangutan Home Services has been in the HVAC business since 1993 and we take pride and strive for excellence in customer service. We will discuss the findings of your central air conditioning system evaluation and the recommended remedies with you thoroughly before any work begins. In today's society there is now a demand for, what is known as, Corporate Social Responsibility. Societal expectations, in general, feel that profitable companies should be ethically obligated to give back to the community, employee, global, and environmental causes.

The term Corporate Social Responsibility embodies the spirit of companies reinvesting in their workforces, communities, and the world. Many companies have championed the Corporate Social Responsibility movement within their own corporate structure.

At Orangutan Home Services, as successful members of the community, we embrace the spirit of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Upon learning of a recent theft of an air-conditioning unit at Helen's Hope Chest, the Mesa United Way's program for foster children, Orangutan Home Services stepped up to provide and install a new $10,000 AC unit thus giving back to a program that gives back to the community. Helen’s Hope Chest provides a much needed program for foster children, providing items such as clothing, books and shoes that are donated by the public and corporations.

As an avid supporter of the Phoenix Zoo, we work to help endangered species like the Orangutan. By providing school children and adults a way to experience exotic wildlife up close is an example of the caring and thoughtful manner in which the Orangutan’s state of the art habitat was designed.

The Phoenix Zoo is a huge educational and inspirational asset to our community. Our commitment with the Phoenix Zoo is about educating the public about the importance of wildlife and wild places. It is evident in the humane and nurturing manner in which the wildlife is cared for, exhibited and promoted as ambassadors for endangered species throughout the world.

At Orangutan Home Services we are proud to show our support for this amazing community asset and as a special offer, for anyone that visits the Phoenix Zoo; you will receive a rebate of $35 on an Air Conditioning system tune-up, regularly priced at $49.

Tempe HVAC Service Contractor replaces AC unit stolen from Mesa foster care program

Gas prices and Valley graduations are stories you expect to see in the in
the paper. Mathew Blades of MIX 96.9’s morning show was shocked to find a
headline reading “Mesa foster kids program gets air conditioning unit
stolen” on
azcentral.com. According to the article, “thieves apparently
hopped an iron fence over the weekend to steal the air conditioning unit at
Helen's Hope Chest, the Mesa United Way's program for foster children.”

Blades said, “I hate stories like this, I mean how are you going to steal
from people that are just trying to help out those less fortunate?

Out of frustration, Blades took it to the airwaves, “how can someone steal
from charity?” Within minutes the MIX 96.9 phone lines lit up with offers
from www.oservice.com
”>Orangutan Home Services and Sun Devil Plumbing. Both companies went straight to Mesa’s United Way to inspect the damage.

Richard James, Director of Finance at United Way, informed MIX 96.9 that
Orangutan had a contract in hand and the total cost to United Way read $0!
The new $10,000 unit will be installed Wednesday, as well as a new
thermostat and Orangutan will also be building a steel fence around it so
the new one can’t be taken.
It’s great to see that there are good people in the world, willing to take
advantage of the resources they have at hand.

But It's a Dry Heat!

Arizona is known for its high summer temperatures.

Summer will soon be closing in upon us, and it’s often a challenge to keep cool during these hot months.

With temperatures on the rise, we look for ways to seek refuge from the heat, unless you have a built in way to cool off like our resident black-tailed jackrabbit!

Did you know that the black-tailed jackrabbit’s most identifying feature is its huge ears?

The large ears of this hare help it to lose heat and thereby cooling its body temperature.

Unless you can beat the heat the way the black-tailed jackrabbit does, you’ll be seeking out other ways to cool off. Migration to a cooler climate is not the only solution to the summer heat!

Is your air conditioning system keeping you cool and comfortable inside?

The worst thing that can happen is to have your air conditioner break down on one of those extremely hot days. Let the experienced professionals at Orangutan Home Services help you to obtain the climate-controlled comfort that you’re looking for.

If your system is suddenly not repairable, then replacement is the only option. At Orangutan Home Services we offer all sizes and types of air conditioners to suit your needs.

Keep your air conditioning unit running well with regular maintenance. It’s very important and can prevent more costly breakdowns when you need your system the most. Regular maintenance will also ensure that your system is running efficiently.

Oldest Cooling and Heating System Contest

Air Conditioning is not a new concept!

Did you know that the concept of air conditioning was known to have been applied in Ancient Rome, where aqueduct water was circulated through the walls of certain houses for cooling? Similar techniques in medieval Persia involved the use of cisterns and wind towers to cool buildings during the hot season. Modern air conditioning emerged from advances in technology during the 19th century, and the first large scale electrical air conditioning was invented in 1902 by Willis Haviland Carrier. He was asked to find a way to remove moisture in the air inside a New York printing plant. Because paper absorbs the moisture from the air, the printers would complain that the colors would not print right when the air was humid. Carrier stood at a railroad station one foggy day and realized that fog was just water concentrated in the air. He also knew that if the air was cooled, the water would condense out of the air. So, he designed a machine that cooled the air as it entered the plant and collected the condensed water inside the machine instead of inside the plant. So, the first air conditioning system was actually invented not to cool air but to dry it, the cooling effect was just a bonus!

The history of heating goes back even farther than air conditioning!

From the time of cavemen using open fire pits through the first 100 years of home heating, wood was burned in brick fireplaces, and invented in 1742, the cast iron Franklin Stove. Not until 1885 would coal begin to be used more than wood. At the end of the 19th century, low-cost, cast iron radiators were invented and brought central heating into homes, using a coal-fired boiler in the basement which delivered hot water or steam to radiators in every room. Around this same time, Dave Lennox built and marketed the first riveted steel coal furnace. These early furnaces used natural convection (hot air rising) via ducts from the basement furnace to heat the rooms above. These were the two main methods of home central heating until 1935, when the first forced air furnace was invented. It used coal as a heat source with an electric fan to distribute the heated air via ductwork throughout the home. Soon thereafter, gas and oil fired versions came about to relieve homeowners from the chore of “stoking the coal fire” and relegated coal furnaces and cast iron radiators into the dust bin of history. Today, around 60% of homes are heated with gas-fired forced air furnaces, and 9% with oil fired furnaces. In warmer climates, 25% of homes are heated by forced air furnaces using electric “heat pumps” to supply both heating and cooling energy!

Orangutan Home Services Makes Generous Donation to Phoenix Zoo as Part of Capital Campaign to Create a World Class Zoo

Orangutan Home Services, will be generously donating a portion of their profits to help support the Phoenix Zoo’s construction of Orang-Hutan: “People of the Forest” habitat.

The donation of $500,000 will be used to continue the construction of the new habitat for the Zoo’s family of four orangutans; Duchess, Bess, Michael and Kasih. The exhibit will allow 5 times more space outdoors and nearly 15 times more space indoors than the previous exhibit. The new facility includes two indoor climate controlled habitats and two large outdoor habitats with sway poles, ropes and plenty of climbing structures for the orangutans to enjoy.

“We are extremely grateful and excited about this generous donation from Orangutan Home Services,” says Bert Castro, CEO and President of the Phoenix Zoo. “This exhibit is the largest single undertaking in the history of the Zoo and their donation helps us to provide a state of the art habitat for our beloved family of orangutans. We consider Orangutan Home Services a tremendous supporter of the Zoo and are thrilled they are embarking on this historic project with us.”

Jordy Tessler, President of Orangutan Home Services, has a clear vision for his company’s philanthropy: “Our slogan is ‘Improve Your Habitat,’ so for us this is a small step in the right direction, and it’s certainly the right thing to do to protect these incredible creatures.” Tessler also adds, “The Phoenix Zoo is the ideal place for families, and children of all ages. We want to do our part to ensure that everyone who visits will have a positive experience.”

The orangutans’ most recent exhibit was built in 1975 and was considered state of the art for its time. Since then, more has been learned about orangutans’ needs, behaviors, and social structures and the Zoo is incorporating those ideas in this much more naturalistic exhibit. With modern amenities and a larger area to explore, the Zoo will have the opportunity to add more orangutans in the future. Orang-Hutan: “People of the Forest” will open in April 2011.
